St. Anthony Intermediate Choir

Dear Parents and Students!

Happy New Year 2017! :)

Our Intermediate Choir has another busy, but equally exciting season ahead of us! :)
We had a lot of fun performing our Christmas repertoire at the Aberdeen Center on December 13th! We are so grateful for your continuous support in making this annual outreach another highlight of the year! Many Thanks to our Parent-Volunteers and everybody who cheered us and sang and danced along with us during our fun and energy-filled performance!! I told you those dancing and ballet shoes would come in handy! :)) Also, many thanks to the Aberdeen Center Management for their continuous support and generosity in presenting us with another generous honorarium this year, all proceeds from which went towards our annual Choir Christmas Party! After all, our kids worked so hard to make this past holiday season the most unforgettable one! It wouldn't be possible without you, so - THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!!!

As for practices, they will resume next week, on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, and will follow our regular practice schedule (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3 - 3:40 pm). The main focus for our choir this season would be to polish our repertoire for the monthly school masses at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, and our appearances at various school and region-wide events throughout the year, including: Fine Arts Concert in April, St. Thomas More Chancellor Music Festival in May and Year-End Awards Ceremony in June.

We all hope to see you there!! :)

Welcome to the New Musical School Year!!! :)

Dear parents, students and friends of St. Anthony of Padua School!!

We are beyond excited to welcome you to our new and approved school this year!!

Hope you all had a very restful summer and ready to start the new year with refreshed energy!!

Musically speaking, we've already kicked off the season with our first music classes today, where we've played percussion instruments in Primary grades, while learning the difference between "beat" and "rhythm", while Intermediates got a  jump start to their favorite recorder practice routine ;) There were also Choir Permission forms and Recorder forms (for Grade 4's mostly. Other grades - only those who had lost them over the summer). Both due Tuesday, September 13. The auditions are only necessary for those who are new to the choir, in order to determine which voice section they belong to.

If there were prior commitments on the choir practice days (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3 - 3:40 pm) and because the spaces fill up quickly, the priority will be given to students with no prior commitments on those days. However, there will be a waiting list for those who can only commit to one day of practice per week, on a first-come first-served basis. Spaces fill up quickly, so don't be shy and apply! :))
(Please note that you can only miss 2 days of practices (per term) without a valid reason).

The following performances are already scheduled for the 2016-2017 school year: monthly school masses; Christmas Seasonal Performance at the Aberdeen Center in Richmond; school's assemblies throughout the year (Remembrance Day, Grandparents' Tea, Fine Arts Morning, etc.); St. Thomas More Chancellor Music Festival (May 2017).

Our first practice will take place on  Tuesday, September 20.

Once again, thank you for your continuous support and hope to see you at our concerts!!!

Sincerely,
Ms T

Our St. Anthony Intermediate Choir is scheduled to perform at the St. Thomas More Chancellor Music Festival on Tuesday, May 3, at 9:30 am, at the gymnasium of Our Lady of Mercy school in Burnaby. The students were already given their permission slips, to be signed by parents and returned back no later than Thursday, April 21. If you would like to volunteer to supervise small groups of children during the trip, please, check the appropriate boxes at the bottom portion of the slip, sign and return it back by next Thursday, April 21. Hope to see you at the concert! :)

Music Program for Spring-Summer Term 2016

It's that time of year again when we go back to our "musical travels around the world" in search of the cultural uniqueness and beauty that each country has to offer, through the exploration of their folklore, exotic musical instruments, interpretive dance and singing. While Primary grades will mostly enjoy the slide shows, videos and smart board presentations, the Intermediate grades (grades 5 and up) will create their own presentations (ranging from showcasing their favorite artists from their own cultures, to making presentations on the composers from Baroque, Classical and Modern eras).

And, after seeing the level and quality of their presentations, I'm mesmerized once again at how TALENTED our St. Anthony kids are!!!!! ;))))))
